Search operation conducted ahead of Sangai Festival

Imphal: As preventive measures taken ahead of upcoming Sangai Festival and VVIP visit in the state, Manipur Police continued verification of individuals and house to house search operations at different areas of Imphal City.

A team of police commando, Imphal West conducted house to house search operation at Takhellambam Leikai, Sagolband Thingom Leikai, Sega Road, Keishampat Leimajam Leikai and Tera Kurao makhong area during 6 am to 8 am on Wednesday.

During the operation about 150 houses including five houses of different underground outfit bail out were searched. A total of about 270 individuals and five bail outs were verified but no individuals were detained.

Another team of Imphal West commando conducted cordon and search operation at Pratap Talkies crossing area, Paona Bazaar covering Masajid road, pologround area, Hotel Kristina stretch and Fashion Point area, Paona Bazaar during 3.30 pm to 4 pm.

In the operation around 155 individuals were verified in the respective areas. Among the 155 individuals, eight were detained and handed over to City Police station for further verification. The detainees were released after verification.

The Manipur Sangai Festival will begin on November 21 and continue till November 30.
