Imphal: In continuation with the police investigation under NDPS Act on seizure of 3.564 Kg of Brown Sugar on November 9, a team of Singngat Police station recovered 1.884 Kg of Brown Sugar from Lancha village area, a police report said on Thursday.
The drug was recovered when the police acted on the report received from engaged sources as well as statements of arrested accused persons. The team conducted a search operation in and around the route of the absconding co-accused suspects, which led to the recovery of one gunny bag, hidden amongst the bushes of the forest in Lancha village area.
The gunny bag was found containing 15 boxes. Each box contained 11 soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar. The drug was seized in the presence of the sub-divisional magistrate, Singngat by following necessary formalities, the police report said.
The seized contraband item was found to be 1.884 Kg. The Total seizure in connection of the referred case is 5.448 Kg. Further investigation is on, to cause arrest of all the involved persons in this regard, it added.
A team of Singhat police station seized 3.564 kg of suspected Brown Sugar and arrested two persons from a temporary check post near New Teikot, Churachandpur district on November 9 late evening.
The duo were transporting the contraband drugs by using motorcycles on the Singngat- Suankuang road, Churachandpur district.
