Search operation continues ahead of Sangai Festival

Imphal: In continuation of the preventive measures taken ahead of Sangai Festival and VVIP visit during the festival, house to house search operation and cordon and search operation continues at various areas of Imphal City and its surroundings on Thursday.

A team of Imphal West police commando conducted a surprise checking at lodging hotels located at Paona Bazaar side. During the checking conducted from 7.30am to 8.40am the commando team searched seven hotels and took verification. No individuals were pick up for further verification.

Another district commando team conducted similar search operation at seven lodging hotels and 45 houses located near Hotel Classic Grande and Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai respectively from 6.40 am to 8.35 am.

During the operation a total of around 120 individuals were verified but no one was picked up for further verification.

The district police commandos also conducted cordon and search operation at Kasturi crossing, Thangal bazaar side covering Dharmasala, Yaima Store stretch, Bora Galli and Alu Gali from 3.40pm to 4.10 pm.

In the police action around 190 individuals were verified from which three individuals were picked up and handed over to City Police station for further verification. After verification the three individuals were set free.
