2.89 Kg Brown Sugar seized in Manipur

Imphal: Assam Rifles and Manipur Police have seized 2.89 Kg of Brown Sugar from a location near T Waichong village in Kangpokpi of Manipur on Saturday.

The seizure was made in a joint operation carried out by Jwalamukhi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR(E) and Kangpokpi district police following a specific input regarding movement of drugs.

Inputs were corroborated regarding suspected mov of drugs in a Gypsy vehicle moving on IT Road. Mobile Vehicular Check Posts were established by 22 Assam Rifles along with police teams near T Waichong Village to apprehend the suspected vehicle, the Assam Rifles said.

The Brown Sugar was found stowed in the spare wheel of the vehicle,  packed in 64 soap cases, it added.

The individuals travelling in the vehicle along with the contraband items were handed over to Kangpokpi Police station for further investigation, it said.
