Lions Club organises Free Medical Checkup

Imphal: Lions Club of Imphal Valley (LCIV) along with Lions Club of Imphal North and Imphal Northern Hemisphere organised a one-day diabetes awareness and detection cum health check up camp at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Lamlong in association with Young Sports cum Library Club, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai on Sunday.

President of LCIV, Sukhvinder Singh said the free health camp was organised as a part of the “One Multiple Activity” with the theme “Knock Out Diabetes” observed by Lions Club International Multiple district 322 in November 12-20.

Altogether 56 persons were screened for blood sugar along with health check up and BP monitoring during the camp of which 15 persons were found to be suffering from Type II diabetes and 33 persons were found to be suffering from Hypertension.

The camp shared awareness on Diabetes and its prevention. Lifestyle changes was suggested.

The clubs have decided to conduct the Diabetes detection and awareness camp at different localities for the next couple of months in order to spread the theme: Knock out Diabetes, with Diabetes being a major Health challenge the Lions Club has been in focus for the last few decades.
