Smuggler nabbed with 1.58 Kg Heroin powder in Manipur

Imphal: A smuggler who was ferrying Heroin powder along the Indo-Myanmar road at Kakching, Manipur was apprehended with 1.580 Kg of Heroin powder on Saturday evening.

The smuggler was identified as one S. Raizii (29) son of Shekho, of Tunggam Khullen, Senapati district.

He was apprehended by team of Kakching Police commando during random frisking and checking at Pallel Laimanai Chingjin Commando check point to detect the movement of anti-social element and transportation of illegal items.

While conducting frisking and checking, the team noticed one yellow Vitara Brezza bearing registration number ML05P1202 which was coming from Tengnoupal side and proceeding towards Kakching Lamkhai side. On checking the vehicle , detected 129 soap cases of suspected heroin powder from the vehicle. The total weight of the suspected heroin powder was found to be 1.580 Kg, a police report said.

The suspected heroin powder was seized and Raizii was arrested after observing formalities, it added.
