Hockey Men’s World Cup, 2023 trophy to reach Imphal on December 7

Imphal: For the first time, Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 trophy tour will reach Imphal on December 7 and people of Manipur will be given opportunity to see the trophy at CM Bungalow.
President Manipur Hockey, Khoirom Loyalakpa, said this at Hockey stadium, Khuman Lampak, Imphal on Sunday.
Loyalakpa said Hockey Men’s World Cup, 2023 will be held at Odisha in January 13 to 20. The Trophy Tour after crossing to other places of the world will reach India on December 5.
He said the trophy tour will be received at Imphal International Airport by chief minister N. Biren Singh, YAS minister along with MLAs and officials of Manipur Hockey.
The people of Manipur will be given opportunity to see the trophy at CM Bungalow in which the timing to see the trophy will be informed to public shortly, he added.
Olympian Shanglakpam Nilakanta Sharma will be playing in the coming Hockey Men’s World Cup in the Indian squad, Loyalakpa said.
Hockey India will provide a sum of Rs 3 lakh for each state hockey team to promote and motivate the hockey players. Each team of Manipur whether men’s or women’s participating at national level tournaments will be given Rs 70,000 for the team, he added.
He appreciated Hockey India for taking such initiatives to promote and motivate the hockey players.
Loyalakpa said to participate in Khelo India in hockey, trial for players both for men’s and women’s are being conducted at Khuman Lampak, Hockey stadium.
