Imphal: For the first time in Manipur, Birth Waiting Home initiative was launched in CHC Saikul on Friday in the presence of Dr Meena Seram, state nodal officer, Maternal Health, NHM Manipur and chief medical officer, Kangpokpi, Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip.
With this initiative, Birthing facilities in the health centre would be made accesible to pregnant women from remote and far flung areas under CHC Saikul by providing accomodation facility in the health centre and wait for the onset of labour.
Pregnant women from remote and far flung areas would be made to stay in the Birth Waiting Home 10 days prior to thier expected date of delivery and they would be provided free diet during thier stay and provided free pick and drop facility.
This will help reduce practice of Home Delivery and increase in Institutional Delivery.
