Mirabai Chanu wins silver in 2022 World Weightlifting Championships

Imphal: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has won silver in the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogota, Colombia, lifting a total weight of 200 kg, with 87kg in snatch and 113kg in clean and jerk.

China’s Jiang Huihua won the gold medal with a total lift of 206 kg (93kg plus 113kg). This was Jiang’s third World Championships gold.

Bronze went to Olympic champion Hou Zhihui of China, with a total of 198 (89kg plus 109 kg).

“Congratulations Mirabai Chanu on winning the silver medal in the Women’s 49 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships 2022 in Bogota. Keep shining Mirabai,” chief minister N. Biren Singh writes on his Facebook wall.
