3 Kg Brown Sugar seized from smuggler in Manipur


Imphal: A combined team of Saikul police station of Manipur Police along with 22 Assam Rifles COB, Saikul seized 3.046 Kg of Brown Sugar and arrested a person from Saikul village, Kangpokpi district of Manipur on Wednesday.

The arrested person was identified as Ngamlenthang Khongsang, 32, son of Chingjang Khongsai of Maojang village under the jurisdiction of Saikul police station.

The team effected the seizure and arrest of the drug trafficker acting on an information of suspicious movement of drug peddlers at Saikul village near water supply.

The combined team conducted frisking and checking in the area.

One red scooter (NTORQ 125) without registration plate was stopped for verification.

The rider (Ngamlenthang) after disclosing his identity admitted that he is a drug peddler and transporting illegal drugs from Maojang village to Imphal along Saikul to Imphal road, a police report said.

The Brown Sugar packed in six different transparent polythene packets were detected in the scooter and seized.

He disclosed the police that he was transporting the drugs to Imphal for selling to one Tabui.

One aadhaar card, registration card of the scooter, one mobile phone with two SIM cards and Rs 1,200 in cash were also recovered from his possession.

A case has been registered at the same police station under ND and PS Act for further investigation, the report said.
