Militant arrested


Imphal: A team of special commando unit, Khabeisoi of Manipur Police has apprehended an active cadre of an underground outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) on Monday.

The person was identified as one Pukhrambam Puninchandra Singh, 42, son of P. Hemanta Singh of Takhel Makha Leikai, Imphal East.

According to police, Puninchandra was nabbed acting on an information received from 4 Assam Rifles about movement of one suspected person of KYKL in an around Takhel Makha Leikai near a community hall.

After Puninchandra disclosed his identity he claimed himself as a cadre of KYKL. He also disclosed that he joined the outfit in April, 1998 through one Khamba who is Lance Corporal of the same outfit and received basic military training at Khoupum Tampak in 2nd batch.

Puninchandra further disclosed that presently he is working under the command of 2nd Lieutenant, Chaoba Potshangbam of the same outfit, a police report said.

He was handed over to Lamlai police station on the same day for further necessary legal action, it added.
