Imphal: The Food Safety Administration, Pherzawl under the guidance of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) observed Eat Right Walkathon cum Mela alongside the 6th District Hill Leaders’ Day anf Meeyamgi Numit at the DC office complex in Pherzawl Headquarter.
The event began with a Walkathon at 8 am from the entry point of Pherzawl village to Forest office junction which was flagged off by the DC in a move to spread awareness on healthy lifestyle to make the right food choices as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The mela was attended by the deputy commissioner Haulianlal Guite, SP A. Ghaneshyam Sharma, SDO Tipaimukh I. Dinesh Kumar and other DLOs joined by several non-profit organisations, the public and school going children.
The DC urged all to prepare healthy meals at home which can support immune system and reduce the risk of illnesses. He stated that to ensure safety and wellbeing, the mela provides an opportunity to learn about safe food and healthy diets, including health and nutrition benefits of food.
S. Surendro Singh, FSO, Pherzawl gave awareness of Common Food Adulteration raising the importance of eating food right and its concern on food safety.
As part of the event, nine stalls displaying organic products were opened. A painting competition was held for school students in different categories.
