Jotin of Manipur makes history in Cricket


Imphal: Manipur’s 16 years old right arm medium pacer took nine wickets in an innings on debut Ranji Trophy match against Sikkim at SICA Ground, Rangpo in Sikkim on Wednesday.

“Our 16 year old Pheiroijam Jotin Singh made his debut in Cricket for Manipur in the Ranji Trophy making a history by becoming the 4th Indian bowler to take 9 wickets in an innings on first class debut.

Congratulations! May you bring more laurels for the state,” chief minister congratulated Jotin on his Facebook wall.

Manipur Cricket Association in a release said Pheiroijam Jotin Singh marked his debut at Ranji Trophy 2022-23 with a stunning 9-Wickets first-innings haul.

A just 16 years old, Pheiroijaro Jotin Singh son of Pheiroijam Rohindro Singh and Pheiroijam Bidyalaxmi Devi of Patsoi LamIchai, puts Sikkim in his swing with stunning nine wickets 1st innings haul debutance performance in the Ranji Trophy match against Sikkim at SICA Ground, Sikkim. He is a current player of Patsoi Taomang Rising Club, it added.

The 2022-23 Ranji Trophy is the 88th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament in India. It is being played from December 13 and scheduled to conclude on February 20 next year.
