Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling of gold

Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) foiled cross-border smuggling of Gold biscuits at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi on Tuesday.

During routine checking, the troops of Tengnoupal Battalion recovered six suspected Gold biscuits from two female individuals.

The gold biscuits were well-concealed in their handbags. The female individuals were travelling from Moreh to Imphal.

The gold biscuits weighed approximately 997 gm and were assessed to be worth Rs 54.11 lakh, the Assam Rifles said.

The seized gold biscuits along with the apprehended individuals were handed over to Customs department, Moreh for further investigation, it added.
