Manipur government announces school winter break from Friday, bans excursion

Imphal: Manipur government has announced duration of winter break for schools in Manipur (govemment/ government aided/ private unaided schools) for the current academic session from December 23 to January 2 next year.

The announcement was made in a notification issued by Education (S) director L. Nandakumar Singh on Wednesday.

In another notification the director has instructed to school heads not to organise school excursions in the foggy winter days till January 1, 2023, with immediate effect, to avoid any untoward incidents.

The notification was served following the Tubung accident of a study tour bus carrying students at Longsai Part-III (Tubung) along the Old Cachar Road in Noney district.

At least nine persons including students, a teacher and a warden lost their lives.
