Imphal: Bodies of nine victims of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok in a road mishap occurred at Longsai Part- III (Tubung), Noney district were cremated at the school on Thursday.
Seven students, one teacher and a warden lost their lives in the accident. Their bodies were cremated after autopsy at JNIMS morgue.
Tribute was paid to the departed souls at the school before cremation.
President Droupadi Murmu condoled the tragic incident in tweeter account stating that “Saddened to learn about the accident of a school bus carrying children in Noney district of Manipur. The loss of precious young lives is distressing. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured.”
Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi also tweeted as “Anguished by the loss of lives in Manipur’s Noney district due to a tragic bus accident. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover soon. The Manipur government is providing all possible assistance to those affected: PM @narendramodi.”
Union Home minister, Amit Shah tweeted as “Pained to learn about the loss of lives in a bus accident carrying school children in Manipur’s Noney district. My sincerest condolences to the bereaved families. May God give them the strength to bear this loss. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Apart from the politicians, many civil society organizations and local clubs were still continuing sharing their condolences to the bereave families of the decease and are praying for quick recovery for the injured.
Shiv Sena Balasaheb Banchi Manipur Pradesh led by its state president M. Tombi on Thursday visited the injured at Raj Medicity.
He said the party appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Rs 2 lakh for each deceased persons as ex-gratia and chief minsiter N. Biren Singh for providing Rs 5 lakh each.
