135 die during pandemic in Kakching


Imphal: A total of 56177 people  have been tested and out of which 6838 are found to be positive while 6703 has been cured, unfortunately 135 have died due to Covid in Kakching district, said chief medical officer, Kakching  Dr Th. Rajen on Friday.

The chief medical officer was giving a power point presentation pertaining to Covid Care taken up by the district health department, during a Workshop on Good Governance Practices/Initiatives taken in Kakching during the last five years at deputy commissioner office complex, Kakching.

The function was as part of “Sushasan Saptah-Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur” and graced by S. Kunjabihari Singh (retired IAS) as chief guest.

In connection with first dose vaccination in Manipur, Kakching district stood first position with 94289 vaccination. In the second dose vaccination the district again stood in third position with 6882 vaccination, Rajen said.

Under Chief Minister’s Health for All, the total number of screening was 26767 covering 56 villages out of 125 villages as a whole. Repairing of PHC Hiyanglam, Pallel and Wangoo Laipham were completed, he added.

Y. Achouba Singh, zonal Education officer, Kakching while presenting initiatives taken up by department of Education (S) during the last five year mentioned that with the introduction of School Phagat hansi Mission in the state, people have confident and thrust in the government and accordingly, students’ enrolment in government school are significantly increased. Four school each were selected in the first and second phase of implementing the Mission in the district. Owing to the increase in students’ enrolment, additional class room were constructed in 9 schools. Under PM-Poshan Mid Day Meal, 72 Kichen shed are also constructed in various schools within the district.

CAF and PD department, Kakching has successfully taken up various schemes like, National Food Security Act (NFSA), Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), One Nation One Ration Card (ONRC) and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). The types of beneficiaries under NFSA and PMGKY are Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). In Wabagai Assembly Constituency, 9073 Ration card (AAY-843 and PHH- 8230) were distributed. In Hiyanglam AC, 8818 ration card (AAY-997 & PHH-7821), In Kakching AC, 8417 ration card (AAY-628 & PHH-7789) and in Sugnu AC, 8428 ration card (AAY-827 & PHH-7601) have been distributed, a district information said.

Under RD and PR department, from 2018 to 2022 a total of 3703 Birth Certificate and 281 Death certificate were issued by the office of Kakching CD Block and Langmeidong CD Block respectively at Block Development level and Gram Panchayat level. In the last five years, out of total target of 2159 under PMAY-G, 595 pucca houses were built and the remaining incomplete houses will be completed as soon as fund is released from the central government, it added.

The function was attended by district level officers, official and staff of DC office and staff of SDO, SDC Kakching.
