Couple arrested for Heroin smuggling

Imphal: In continuation of N. Biren Singh led government’s War on Drugs mission,  a team of Narcotics and Affairs on Border (NAB) police nabbed a couple in possession of Heroin No. 4 from Lambulane Jail road here on Wednesday.

The arrested contraband drug dealers were identified as Shokhogin Haokip, 46, so of Otkhulun Haokip of Bethel Village, Chakpikarong, Chandel district, Manipur and his wife Tingneikim Haokip, 44.

The NAB team seized Heroin powder containing in 24 soap cases packed with transparent plastic packet. The drug weighed about 311 grams (including the weight of transparent plastic packets).

The team also recovered and seized one whilte Bolero vehicle bearing registration number MN04A/7031, two mobile phone with SIM cards and two sling bags and documents related to their identity.

Two independent witnesses from YADA were present during the seizure and arrest. The arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to NAB-PS and a  case is  registered  for investigation, a police report said.
