Stop importing fully grown chicken in Manipur: Poultry farmers

Imphal: Poultry farmers of Manipur cautioned to launch agitation if necessary steps to stop bringing in of fully grown chicken in Manipur market are not taken immediately.

One of the poultry farmer named as Ningthoujam Kennedy told newsmen here in Imphal on Friday that in the last few years some of the businessmen started selling of chicken meat at low price by importing fully grown chicken from outside the state.

He said poultry farmers of Sekmai area are facing huge impact. Poultry farmers of Manipur might stop rearing of chicken if necessary steps are not taken in time by the government.

The government has been encouraging the youths of Manipur for self-reliance and with the idea the youths are taking various initiatives to become self sustainability, he added.
