Meira Paibi stand firm for Manipur society

Imphal: The 42nd edition of Meira Paibi numit’ was held at community hall of Mayang Langjing Sorok Mapal, Imphal West on Thursday, organized by All Manipur Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj).

Meira paibies (Women folks) of Manipur has been putting various efforts to bring peace and harmony in the state for the last 40-50 years and will be continuing for the welfare of the society said president, All Manipur Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Th Ramani.

Ramani said for the last 40-50 years the Manipur society has been suffering from various issues including the impact of liquor; Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958; women violence; and others.

Since it’s establishment the Meira Paib have been carrying activities for the welfare of the society by bearing torches. Meira Paibis have been continuing the movement against illicit drugs, alcohols and others.

She appealed the state government not to lift the prohibition on liquors, instead, should strengthen the ban on liquor in the state. She said the government should take a firm decision by taking the concerned for the people in masses not by considering for some section.
