Imphal West reports 100 percent Covid positivity rate


Imphal: Manipur on the first day of 2023 reported one female Covid-19 positive case belonging to Imphal West, after days of having zero active case in the state.

A total of 28 samples were tested for Covid-19. Two samples belonged to Imphal West and Imphal East, and 28 to Jiribam. Only the sample of Imphal West was confirmed positive.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the state stood at 1,39,923.  The cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths remained at 2149.

No Covid 19 vaccine was administered on the last day of 2022.

“If you have any flu or flu like symptoms, get tested,”  Dr.Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson Health department, Manipur said. “In other parts of the world, Covid-19 cases due to variant BF.7 are increasing in surges. Fortunately, our country and State are not seeing any surge due to this variant. Still, the need for vigilance and precaution is needed. Therefore, it is appealed to the public to get complete doses of vaccination, follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour such as wearing masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.”
