Imphal: Manipur governor La. Ganesan and chief minister N.Biren Singh have greeted people of Manipur on the occasion of Emoinu Eratpa that falls on Tuesday.
“It is, indeed, gratifying to note that the people of Manipur, especially our Manipuri brethren observed Ima Emoinu puja to mark the return of the indigenous Meitei deity to the residence of her daughter-in-law Piyainu. However, Ima Emoinu puja/festival is celebrated at different places of the state with different flavours. I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Emoinu Puja and pray that this Pujah may bring peace and prosperity to the state,” Ganesan said.
“Imoinu Iratpa is celebrated on the twelfth day of the Wakching month of Manipuri lunar calendar, with traditional gaiety and religious fervour. On this day, seasonal fruits, vegetables and fish are offered and lights are lit around the houses to evoke the blessings of Goddess Imoinu, believed to be the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity.” As we celebrate the festival seeking the blessings from the Goddess, let us also join hands and work harder to make Manipur self-reliant in food production and also move ahead with development at a faster pace,” Biren said.
