Search operation continues ahead of Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur


Imphal: In continuation of preventive measures taken for the Union Home minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur, district commando Imphal West conducted cordon and search operation at two different places of Imphal city on Tuesday.

The police commandos conducted house to house searched operation and verification at Eastern side of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport from 6 am to 8am.

During the police activity around 35 houses including school, workshop, poultry farm and brickfield were conducted search and around 90 individuals were verified. However, no individuals were picked up for further verification.

The commando team also conducted search operation at hotels located at Thangal Bazaar from 7.30am to 8.40 am. During the search operation around eight hotels were searched, but no individuals were picked up.

The same commando team also conducted cordon and search operation in the surrounding areas of Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, Imphal from 3.20 pm to 5 pm.

During the operation around 100 houses including rented houses and 10 hotels were searched in which 170 individuals were verified. No one was detained for further verification.

The team also conducted similar operation at Ibohal cycle area of Paona Bazaar side covering Kakhulong, Masjid road area, river bank of Nambul river and Paona Bazaar stretch from 3.30 pm to 4 pm.

In the operation about 125 individuals were verified. No individuals were detained for futher verification.
