e-Services Manipur bags Gold


Imphal: President of India, Droupadi Murmu conferred Digital India Awards 2022 under the category Public Digital Platforms – States to e-Services Manipur at a solemn function held on Saturday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The team of e-Services Manipur includes Namban Deben, director (IT), Information Technology as Initiative lead with members Gurumayum Robert Sharma, joint director (IT), Lupesh Khaidem, informatics officer, and Thounaojam Munikanta Singh, consultant (PM/TM), (SeMT) of the department of Information Technology, Manipur.

“A proud moment as e-Services Manipur is conferred a ‘Gold’ certificate under the category, ‘Public Digital Platforms – States’ by Hon’ble President Smt Droupadi Murmu ji at the coveted Digital India Awards, 2022 in New Delhi,” chief minister N. Biren Singh writes on his Facebook wall.

“Under the BJP government, now we have the opportunity to realize many hidden potentials of the state. E-Services Manipur is a Mission Mode Project with 35 end-to-end online services for 9 departments under the state government launched in 2016 and now covers all 16 districts. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” he added.

The Digital India awards instituted in 2009 are one of a kind in India for honouring the efforts of different Government entities in the digital realm. These are conducted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

e-services Manipur, a Mission Mode Project with 35 numbers of end-to-end online services for nine departments under Government of Manipur, was launched during 2016 covering original nine districts of the state where citizens can avail services like Birth Certificate, ST/SC/OBC Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Income Certificate, Registration Certificate for employment exchange, etc. without having to go physically to the concerned office. Further, with the creation of seven new districts in the state, the e-District Project has been augmented for the process flow with respect to seven new districts and the same has been operational in all 35 services in 16 districts.

The e-services Manipur application has immensely benefited citizens who get the much-needed services transparently with minimum cost and reduced turnaround time eliminating the need for multiple visits to Government offices and frustrating follow-ups. The success of the project is evident from the number of transactions (18,51,601) clocked till 22nd November,2022. Citizens now have easy access to government services with minimum procedural formalities through authorised service centres like Common Service Centre thereby reducing the usage of own vehicle or public transport ensuring less pollution /emission leading to reduction of carbon footprint. e-District has helped in ensuring social distancing and less physical contact during the pandemic.

The proposal for e-services Manipur 2.0 is under preparation and it is envisaged to add 35+ more online services from different line Departments leveraging emerging technologies and data driven platform. This platform is planned to act as a single digital platform of Manipur government for availing all the government services.
