Imphal-Moreh passenger ferriers cease service over driver murder

Imphal: Drivers who provide Imphal to Moreh passengers service ceased their services for a day on Monday demanding to handover culprits involved in the alleged murder of driver Yanglem Priyobrata to Moreh Drivers’ Union and the JAC immediately.
Talking to reporters at Imphal-Moreh van parking site, Moirangkhom, Imphal West, a passenger van driver Khundrakpam Binodkumar said the culprit and those involved in the murder case of Priyobrata should be handed over to the drivers Union and JAC immediately.
Priyobrata, 48, son of Y. Kesho from Nachou Awang Leikai, ward number II, Bishnupur district had gone missing since December 30. His lifeless body was found at the late night of Saturday at a deserted spot near Kedima Veswama Bypass.
Priyobrata runs passenger van service from Imphal-Moreh.
In connection with the incident a couple named as Heisman James, 32, son of H. Kumar from Lamboi Khongnangkhong and his wife Sandhyarani have been arrested.
Binodkumar said Priyobrata was a calm, gentle and hard working person and the drivers are confused on the reason for his murder. He said the government and authority concerned should take stringent action towards the culprits and those who are involved in the incident.
“Now our family members fear that anything unwanted incident could occurred to any one of us,” Binodkumar said.
The protesting drivers appealed the government to compensate the deceased family, and assured that the drivers will give necessary support to the family.
