SR foils timber smuggling

Imphal: ​Somsai Battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) under aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled timber smuggling  in general area Shirui village of Ukhrul District on Friday.

​The Assam Rifles troops intercepted two trucks loaded with illegal timber in general area Shirui village,  evaluated to be worth Rs 2.56 crore.

​The seized timber along with apprehended smugglers and vehicles were handed over to Forest department, Ukhrul for further legal action  the AR said on Saturday.
