Manipur police continue taking preventive measures ahead of Republic Day celebration


Imphal: In continuation of the preventive measures taken ahead of Republic Day celebration, Imphal West police commandos conducted house to house search operation and verification of individuals at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Imphal West on Sunday.

The operation was conducted from 6.30 am to 8.15 am and in the activity around 70 houses were searched. The police team verified around 160 individuals including 6 bail outs of different underground outfits however no individuals were picked up for further verification.

Imphal West commando team also conducted search operation and cordon and search operation at different areas of Imphal city on Saturday.

The district commando team conducted searched operation in the surroundings of Heirangoithong Jaganath Achouba Leirak and Ahongshangbam Leikai area in the morning. In that 70 houses including the house of bail outs were searched. In the activity around 120 individuals including 11 bail outs were verified. No one was picked up for further verification.

The same commando team conducted cordon and searched operation at Nagamapal Naga Nalla covering Ngari Galli, Bora Galli and Kasturi bridge area. The operation was conducted in the same morning.

During the verification around 130 individuals were detained and verified, among the detainees five individuals were picked up and handed over to City Police station for further verification.

In continuation of the police activity, the commando team conducted search operation at Masjid road stretch covering Kakhulong, Paona Bazaar and Khwai bridge in the morning. On such verification around 120 individuals were detained and verified. In the police activity three individuals were picked up and handed over to City Police station for further verification.

The individuals who are detained at City Police station were released after verification.
