Governor reviews development works in Tamenglong

Imphal: In his maiden visit to Tamenglong district, governor of Manipur La. Ganesan on Thursday visited Tamenglong District Headquarters and reviewed various developmental activities taking up in the district.

Ganesan interacted with the district level officers, representatives of civil society organizations, village chiefs, woman leaders and students. He heard all about the issues and grievances raised by them and assured to extend all possible help in the larger interest of the public.

Speaking at the interaction programme held at the Multipurpose Hall, Apollo Ground, the governor said, issues pertaining to road, healthcare, education etc., are the issues which needs special attention. All such issues in the district should be addressed in a time bound manner. He said all the issues raised by the people are genuine and therefore, will ask the concerned department to pay their attention at the earliest. He assured the people that he will ask chief minister to look into the grievances and issues raised by them as soon as possible.

Tamenglong is a beautiful place to visit and orange of the district is now very popular not only in the state but in every part of the country also. Issues in the marketing will be solved, he said.

He stated that roads are being built and within a year, we will witness a sea change in the connectivity sector. Insisting that the youths are the pillars of the nation, he said youths should contribute towards nation building. A strong nation would be made possible only when youths are empowered with education.

Expressing concerned over the increasing number of youths indulging in drug trafficking and abuses, the governor said, this has to be, in any case, prevented with collective efforts including the likeminded civil society  organisations and people. State government has already started taking action against the poppy plantation which was welcomed by one and all. He appealed the people to co-operate with the government in making Manipur a drug free state.

On Covid-19 vaccination, he said, due to the prompt action of the government with the unstinted cooperation from the general public, this dreaded disease has been overcome. He appealed to the people to get vaccinated, which is the best way to defeat the pandemic. He also asked the district authorities to conduct a survey to find out TB patients and report to the concerned department so as to enable them to carry out remedial measures. He also spoke about the importance of cleanliness in making a healthy and prosperous life.

Deputy commissioner, Tamenglong, Pawan Yadav made a power point presentation regarding various initiatives which are being taking up in the district, for the welfare of the people. CSOs, student Leaders submitted memoranda to the governor asking for extending help in various sectors like healthcare, education, connectivity etc.

On his arrival at the helipad in the 44th Assam Rifles Battalion headquarters, the governor was accorded a warm welcome by Pawan Yadav; Anupam, SP, Tamenglong; CO 44th AR Colonel Rahul Singh and other officials. The governor was accompanied by his secretary Bobby Waikhom in his visit.
