Timber worth Rs 2,56 crore seized

Imphal: Shangshak Battalion under aegis of HQ IGAR(South) foiled Timber smuggling in general area Pushing village of Kamjong district on Thursday.

The Assam Rifles troops intercepted 2 trucks loaded with illegal timber in general area Pushing village, evaluated to be worth Rs 2.56 crore, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.

The seized timber along with apprehended smugglers and vehicles were handed over to Forest department, Kamjong for further legal action, it added.
