Assam Rifles flags in National Integration Tour

Imphal: In continuation of commitment and efforts to uplift society and ensure a better and brighter future for the children of border areas, Assam Rifles organised a National Integration Tour (NIT) from Imphal-Delhi-Amritsar-Dimapur and back from on January 7-22.
The tour ‘Flagged Off’ by Brig Michael D’Souza, Commander, Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles from Khuga Garrison of Assam Rifles on January 7 was conducted by Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South). A total of 17 students and two teachers from St Joseph’s School, Lyzon Friendship School, Singhat Higher Secondary School, Hill Model High School and Rayburn High School, all from Singhat Sub Division formed part of this tour.
The tour was conceptualised by Assam Rifles and supported by Indian Army with an aim of broadening the horizons of the students of border villages by exposing them to the rich history, culture and traditions of our country.It was spread over a period of 16 days and covered places of national, historical, cultural and educational importance in Delhi, Amritsar, Wagah Border, Dimapur and Kohima.
During the tour the students got a lifetime opportunity to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan and interact with the President of India, Draupadi Murmu and witnessed the spellbinding Retreat Ceremony at Wagah Border. During the course of the tour, the participating students also got a chance to interact with senior Army officers in Amritsar.
The comprehensive National Integration Tour was finally flagged in at Battalion Headquarter Khuga by Brigadier Michael D’Souza, Commander Churachandpur Sector, Assam Rifles on Sunday, who during his address and interaction with participants, appreciated them for their wholehearted involvement and contribution in making the tour a successful, learning and enriching event and encouraged them to utilise the learning and unique experience of the tour in becoming responsible & duty bound citizens and also use it as a forerunner for achieving their future aspirations and dreams.
The students expressed unparalleled elation and gratitude towards Assam Rifles for such an all-inclusive opportunity and assured to utilise their opportunity to the fullest in their quest for a fulfilling future.
