Master vehicle lifter arrested

Imphal: Imphal West Police has arrested two persons— a  mastermind vehicle lifter and an associate on Saturday.

A team of Imphal West Police commando arrested one  ‘mastermind’ vehicle lifter, Md. Abdul Wahid, 27, of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tharaorok Chingol from his residence at 12.30 pm.

During preliminary verification, he disclosed that he bought stolen vehicles from different persons namely Md. Imtiyaz of Lilong Dam Makha, Md. Mosil of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai and Md. Saroj of Lilong Mayai Leikai and sold the stolen vehicles to Mr. Seikholen Haokip alias Momo of Sora Langol Lou village, Machi Police station.

He further disclosed the police that he possessed a stolen Maruti EECO Van grey in colour bearing registration TN05AX7995 which was handed over to him by one Md. Abdul Hakim of Lilong Dam.

The person along with the stolen Ecco van have been handed over to Lilong police station for taking further necessary action.

In the follow up, Md Abdul Hakim of Lilong Dam has also been picked up, a police report said.
