156 acres of Poppy destroyed

Imphal: A total of 156 acres of Poppy cultivation was destroyed in different parts of Manipur in continuation of state government’s Poppy destruction drive, on Tuesday.

A team of Senapati district police destroyed five acres of Poppy plantation at Ngatan village. The villagers also have destroyed around 30 acres of poppy plantation voluntarily.

Kangpokpi district Police along with Forest department destroyed  around 12 acres of illegal Poppy plantation at Kangchup Reserve forest.

A combined team of Tengnoupal district lolice, Forest department and NAB  destroyed Poppy of 24 acres at the hill range of Khudei Khullen village.

Another combine team of Tousem Police, Forest department, Kuki students organization, KKL (philanthropic organisation)  Kaimai Kuki women’s wings and Kaimai kuki village authorities carried out Poppy destruction at Kaimai Kuki Hill range under Tousem police station and destroyed around seven acres of poppy.

In continuation of drive against poppy plantation, a team destroyed 48 acres of Poppy plantation in various district. The volunteers of Ngatan villagers have also voluntarily destroyed 30 acres of poppy plantation.
