2 Poppy planters arrested, 97 acres of Poppy destroyed

Imphal: In the War on Drugs campaign of Manipur government, two Poppy cultivators were arrested and 97 acres of Poppy cultivation were destroyed in different parts of the state on Monday.

The two Poppy cultivators belonged to Saikul sub-division Kangpokpi district. They were Seiboigin Baite, secretary of L.Lhangnom village  and Soginlun Baite, member of L.Lhangnom village.

The mission was conducted by a combined team of Imphal District Police assisted by NAB, Forest department officials, 4th AR with executive magistrate, Saikul.

A total of 22 acres of Poppy plantation were destroyed at L.Lhangnom Hill Range.

Another team of Tengnoupal District Police, NAB and  Forest department destroyed Poppy plantations at SL Zougam Village Hill Range covering around 55 acres and at Khudei Khullen Village Hill Range covering around 20 acres of land.
