4 more Myanmar nationals found in Manipur

Imphal: Few days after the arrest of 81 Myanmar nationals from the Indo-Myanmar Border town at Tengnoupal district in Manipur, four more Myanmar nationals were apprehended from the border town on Monday.

They were detected during a poice verification drive at Nepali Basti, T. Minou village and J. Munnomjang village.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh appreciated the police team.

Last Friday 81 Myanmar nationals, including 10 minors, were arrested at Moreh, for illegal immigration. They were found settled in and around New Salbung village and H Lhangcham village, located 7km south from Moreh police station.

The secretary (home) has notified the DGP, Manipur to open and activate a Foreigner Detention Centre at Sajiwa prison complex.

He had directed to provide vehicles to transport the Myanmar nationals and to transfer them, as soon as court proceedings allowing their transportation is obtained, to the Foreigner Detention Centre and hand them over to the prisons and correctional department officers, and to provide security enroute while transporting the Myanmar nationals.
