Drugs worth Rs 2.7 crore seized from 2 dealers in Manipur

Imphal: Officers of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal, effected seizure of 26800 Amphetamine tablets and raw opium weighing 760 gm from the possession of two persons near Keithalmanbi, Imphal West, Manipur on Monday.

The two drug traffickers were identified as Bahar Uddin Kaji, aged about 36 years, son of Sofique Uddin Kaji, Baladhan Grant Cachar, Assam and Pantithan Panmai, aged about 24 years, son of Meisithui Panmei Rio, Lukhambi, Noney, Tamenglong, Manipur.

The above recovered drugs were seized at the Customs Divisional office, Imphal. The total value of the contraband drugs is estimated at Rs 2,69,46,000 in the international market, deputy commissioner Customs Division Imphal, Keerthishri S, said.

Both the accused have also been arrested under relevant section of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on, he added.
