More Poppy cultivation destroyed in Manipur


Imphal: Thirty-eight acres of Poppy destroyed in two districts in continuation of Manipur government’s drive against Poppy cultivation on Wednesday.

A combined team of District Police Ukhrul, 6th MR, NAB, Forest department and personnels of 9th IRB along with volunteers  of Champung and Tora carried out poppy destruction at Tora/Champhung hill range. Around 30 acres of poppy cultivated areas have been destroyed.

In another move, a combined team of CDL Police, 8 MR, along with Japhou Bazar authority under the  supervision of SP, Chandel destroyed eight acres of poppy plants cultivated in the area of Old Lamkang Khunthak village, Chandel district.
