Opium, Poppy seeds, Brown Sugar seized from Churachandpur resident

Imphal: Churachandpur district police of Manipur have seized Opium, Poppy seeds and Brown Sugar from a resident of Churachandpur on Thursday.

The seizure was made when the district police acted on an information that a huge quantity of contraband opium was sold at a resident at Ginkhochin Veng, Churachandpur.

The resident, identified as Kimneithiem, 43, wife Soithianlal.

When the police searched the house of Kimneithiem, one sack was found near the kitchen containing three packets of ‘suspected opium weighing 2935 gm, suspected poppy seed weighing 3700 gm, suspected Brown Sugar’ contained in a tobacco can weighing 7 gm including the weight of the tobacco can.

Also, a sum of Rs 70,730 of suspected to be proceeds from sale of contraband drugs and one Oppo mobile phone and one Aadhar card in the name of Kimneithiem were found in the house.

The items were seized and Kimneithiem was arrested. A case under under ND & PS Act,  a police report said.
