MPSTDC demands Meitei Pangal to include in ST list

Imphal: President of Tulihal Idiqah Youth Development Organisation, Abdul Malik Meraimayum demanded to include Meitei Pangal in schedule tribe (ST) list.

For this Abdul drew the attention of chief minister N. Biren Singh during axsit-in demonstration staged at Yairipok Tulihal, Imphal East on Friday. He said Meitei Pangal have strong trust to the chief minister that the demand will be considered.

The protest was organised by Meitei Pangal Schedule Tribe Demand Committee (MPSTDC).

He said the demand to include Meitei Pangal in schedule tribe list is a legitimate demand as the population of the community has become vulnerable.

Malik said the relationship between Meitei community and Meitei Pangal had been a long-term relationship. Meitei Pangal community cannot be overlooked by the government while Meitei community is a major community in the state.
