Education system monitoring centre will function soon in Manipur: Basanta

Imphal: Command and Control Centre to monitor education system will be set up soon in Manipur too like that in Gujarat, said Manipur Education minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar on Saturday.
The minister said this as he inaugurated a building of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Noney which was constructed at a project cost of Rs 4,25,11,135.
New Education policy system is progressing and advancing in Manipur too. Graduate teachers recruitment results will be out within this month and solve the problem of shortage of teachers in the state both in hill and valley districts. He continued to say that education is facing three main big challenges in the department such as shortage of teachers, poor Infrastructure, and transfer and posting issues.
The building was inaugurated at Longmai Part – 3, Noney district in the presence Dinganlung Gangmei, chairman,Hill Areas Committe, Manipur ( Local MLA of Nungba AC) and H.Gyan Prakash, commissioner, Education. The 30 rooms (G – plus buildings ) including water supply and sanitary rooms was constructed under the implementing agency of Education Engineering Wing, Education (S) department under State Council of Educational Research and Training.
After the inaugural function, a public function was held at the Multipurpose Hall. The programme was attended by Joseph Pauline Kamson, deputy commissioner, Noney, Meiduan Gangmei, Khullakpa, Longmai village and other CSOs leaders.
He said there is shortage of teachers because there was no recruitment in the last 10 years and now more than 7000 teachers are still lying vacant. He assured the gathering that in the coming two years there will be great changes seen in the education sector in Manipur otherwise he is ready to resign if it is not fulfilled . The minister also said new system of multicolour uniform for the students like private schools will also be implemented in government schools of Manipur. Computers and tablets were also distributed to the government teachers and students.
He also assured the people that the newly inaugurated DIET centre of Noney will be functioning soon according to the procedures of the ministry and its approval and new recruitment of DIET teachers will be taken up.
Chairman, Hill Areas Committee and local MLA Dinganlung Gangmei said that war on drugs should be supported by the people of Noney district. He asked the Education minister to take up necessary action for the functioning of DIET centre in Noney .The minister assured that the grievances facing in education sector in Noney will be sorted out and solved.
The minister also distributed sports materials for the school students. He also had an interaction session with the students .
Various cultural programmes were also showcased by many cultural troupes.
The visiting minister who is also holding the portfolio of Law also visited the construction site of district Court complex at Rangkhung Part -1, Noney district. He also instructed the officials and contractors to expedite the construction process before the onset of monsoon season.
