10 illegal Myanmar immigrants arrested in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Police has arrested 10 Myanmar nationals including six women who were found at Vaal Veng, New Laamka, Churachandpur on Sunday.

The illegal immigrants were arrested when Churachandpur district police acted on an information received this afternoon.

Following the information, two teams of Churachandpur police rushed to the area and conducted search operation.

While conducting search operation, suspected illegal Myanmarese were seen running here and there on seeing the police personnel. After a hot chase among the fields all the 10 suspected illegal Myanmarese nationals were rounded up and arrested, a police report said.

The illegal migrants were identified as Zinmai, 50, wife of Aung Khai of Monywa; Kyu Kyu, 20, daughter of Kyi Soe of Mongwa; Thi Thi, 25, daughter of Oophone of Mongwa; Soe Soe, 20, daughter of Oophone of Mongwa; Khin Khin, 25, wife of Naing Win Tun of Mongwa; Khin Moh Moh Zaw, 20, daughter of U Zaw Htet of Mongwa; Zawn Htet, 45, son of Than Aung of Mongwa; Aung Khaing, 47, son of Nyo Win of Mongwa; Naing Win Tun, 23, son of U Than Tun Naing of Mongwa; and Lalthakima, son of Vanlalmuana of Tahan.

They admitted the police that they came to Churachandpur on different dates and years from Myanmar and taking shelter secretly at Vaal veng village, New Lamka.

A case under 14 Foreigners Act has been registered for investigation, police said.
