Anaemia free Manipur campaign launched

Imphal: With an aim to raise an awareness about the deficiency of iron (anaemia) among the people of the state, Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh on Monday launched the “Aneamia Free Manipur and Release of Poster Campaign, 2023 under National Health Mission at College of Nursing Hall, Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat, Imphal West..

According to the National Health Survey, the percentage of anaemia is increasing at an alarming rate which we need to choke out a focus area, Dr Ranjan said.

He stressed about the importance of spreading awareness amongst beneficiaries, institutions, village health sanitation etc. in connection with the current issue. “ Lets tie up Social Welfare and Education Department together to cope with the alarming situation of iron deficiency”, he said. These two departments should collaborate with the Health Department to check the nutritional deficiencies, he added.

“Our fight against anaemia or any illness should not be within the confines of the room. Everyone needs to be involved right from the people who are procuring the medicine, whether the medicine store and logistics reach the targeted beneficiaries”, the minister said.

The launching programme was attended by additional chief secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Vumlunmang Vualnam; director Social Welafare Ngangom Uttam; director Health Services, Manipur Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang and State Health Mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam as president and guests of honour respectively.

Posters were released as a part of the Aneamia Free Manipur 2023 Campaign during the programme.

The launching programme was also attended by staff and students of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate of Lamphelpat.
