14 illegal migrants detected in Imphal city

Imphal: A team of Imphal City Police station detected 14 illegal migrants during inner line permit drive, from a truck at Nagamapal area, Imphal West Tuesday morning.

The city police team under the supervision of officer-in-charge, City Police station conducted ILP drive at Nagamapal area. Fourteen persons were found hiding inside one Tata Truck bearing registration number AS25FC-2075.

The driver was identified as one Harman Singh of Amritsar. On further verification the 14 persons were found that they have no valid ILP documents. They were detained and brought to the police station, a police report said.

The accused persons were produced before sub-divisional magistrate, Imphal West. They were imposed a total fine of Rs 15,000 for violation of government’s order and further directed to deport outside the state.

The police report said the accused persons were deported outside the state as per direction of sub-divisional magistrate, Imphal West.

The order issued by executive magistrate, Imphal West, L Sanathoi Singh mentioned that the accused persons being the first-timer offenders, they are directed not to repeat such activities in the future and they shall obtain ILP from the concerned administrative office.
