Over 8 kg Brown Sugar seized

Imphal: A team of district police Tengnoupal seized 8.127 kg of ‘suspected Brown Sugar’ and arrested a drug peddler from Tengnoupal police station check post along Indo-Myanmar national highway on Wednesday.

The seized drugs were detected by the police team from one Shani Joypaul, 29, son of M. Shani of Laii village, Senapati district.

The police team while conducting frisking and checking in front of the check post of Tengnoupal police station along the highway detained a four wheeler (Tata Xenon) bearing registration number AS02BC 9238.

On verification the driver identified himself as Shani. A total of 204 soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar were detected. It weighed 8.127 kg including the weight of the soap cases.

The seized items along with the arrested person has been handed over to Tengnoupal police station for further action.
