Two village chiefs arrested for Poppy cultivation

Imphal: Manipur Police has arrested village chiefs of Maokot and Lanchah villages of Kangpokpi district in continuation of the Poppy Destruction Drive at Maokot village, in Kamjong district.

The village who are habitual offenders of poppy plantations have been arrested and remanded to Police Custody by the concerned Judicial Magistrate, Biren writes on his Facebook wall on Wednesday.

“The combined Team is camping at Chatric village since Yesterday and the District Police is indebted to Village Authorities of Chatric for providing Accommodation and Cooperation to the large combined Team carrying out Poppy Destruction,” he writes.
