UG arrested with arms and ammunitions

Imphal: A team of Bishnunpur police commando arrested an active cadre of an underground outfit of KCP (MC) and seized arms and ammunitions from his possession on Thursday.

The arrested person has been identified as one Tongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi alias Chingsang, 32, son of late Hemkhomang Haokip of Kotlen Village, Kangpokpi district.

Tongmiinthang was arrested following an information received from 16 Assam Rifles and corroborated from police source about movement of some underground cadres in and around Pheidinga, Imphal West near stone crusher for their prejudicial activities.

Acting on the information the commando team rushed to the area after informing the authority concerned.

After reaching the area the team detained Tongminthang and on body search of the detainee, one 7.65 mm pistol mark as ITALY 7.65 No. 9585 having one magazine loaded with six live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunitions was found from his possession.

He disclosed the police that he is an active cadre of KCP (MC Unification) and joined the outfit in the month of November, 2019 through one Kiran of the same outfit. Presently he is working under Kiran and one Tachou of same outfit, police said.

He further disclosed that, in the year 2004 he had also joined PREPAK (PRO) and got basic military training of 45 days at Sajik Tampak with allotted Army no. 15475.

He was arrested and seized the recovered items by observing proper formalities, the police said.

The arrested person along with the seized items were handed over to Sekmai police station for taking further necessary legal action, it added.
