One lady smuggler nabbed with over 5kg Brown Sugar

Imphal: Churachandpur district police of Manipur on Friday nabbed a woman drug dealer who possessed Brown Sugar, from Bijang Vengpi in Churachandpur district.

The drug trafficker was nabbed following an information of a huge quantity of contraband drugs being transported along Sugnu – Churachandpur road in a vehicle.

One dark grey vehicle, AS27D3880, was found plying in a very suspicious manner and the vehicle was signaled to stop at Rengkai road but the vehicle speeded up without stopping. The vehicle was chased and finally intercepted at Bijang Veng, a police report said.

Four black bags suspected to contain Brown Sugar were found inside the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle identified herself as Vahhoihlhing Baite, 41, wife of Paokholal Baite of T.Lailoiphai village, Sangaikot, Churachandpur.

The four bags were opened in the presence of the EM and civil witnesses from the locality and it was found to contain 440 soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar.

The drug weighed 5.115 kg without the weight of the soap cases.

The suspected Brown Sugar, two mobile phones and KIA Seltos car were seized and arrested the lady, the report said.

A case under ND & PS Act has been registered for further investigation, it added.
