Warning to close Health centers

Imphal: All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association (AMHSD), pressing for several demands, has warned the government to launch indefinite closure strike for all health centers under Manipur Health Services from February 14.

The deadline was served to fulfill the demands within the deadline.

President of the association Dr L. Arke Singh told reporters here on Saturday at Manipur Press Club, here that the association has been demanding several points including time-scale promotion, raise in the retirement age of specialist and non-specialist doctors to 65 years, inclusion of non-practising allowance in the basic pay with effect from January 1, 2016 and others.

He said the government has been informing the public that the government is taking initiatives for recruitment of doctors in contractual basis. Doctors are recruited in contractual basis with a monthly honorarium of Rs 27,500, why not the same is applied in the recruitment of bureaucrat officers.

In the state there is lack of doctors as compared with population of Manipur. The state, at present, need around 3,000 doctors and the government need to aware the matter seriously.

“We are not fighting against the government but for justice” Arke said.

AMHSDA is not satisfied and convinced by the reply of the government in the Manipur Legislative Assembly session on the February 3.
