Brown Sugar seized, 2 arrested

Imphal: A team of Imphal West district police commando seized 114.60 gm of suspected Brown Sugar and arrested two drug smugglers from different places on Thursday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Md Amir Khan, 33, son of late Md Abdul Karim of Leihaokhong, Lilong, Thoubal District and Md Maneruddin, 42, son of late Alimuddin of Lilong Lou Manga, Thoubal district.
They were arrested when the commando team acted on an information by frisking and checking at Shamurou Awang Leikai near Ema Panthoibi Community Hall, Imphal West, in which Amir was detained.
On spot interrogation Amir disclosed that he was going to purchase and sell contraband drugs i.e., Brown Sugar from Md Maneruddin who further bought from one Lakimuddin, 35, from Lilong Turel Ahanbi.
In the follow up action, 10 soap cases suspected to be containing Brown sugar weighing 114.60 gm without the weight of soap cases were seized from the possession of Maneruddin from Lilong Turel Ahanbi in front of Darul-ul-lum Madarsa.
The commando team conducted search operation at the house of Md Lakimuddin with local club representatives but no one was found in the house. However, the commando team detected and seized 180 black paper sheets suspected to be used for producing fake currency notes during the operation, a police report said.
One Bajaj Pulsar 150 black in colour without registration number; one Honda Activa blue in colour bearing registration MN06SG -0979; two mobile handsets; two wallets; two Aadhaar cards: two PAN cards; one driving licence and one voter ID Card were seized from the possession of the detainees.
Amir and Maneruddin were arrested. The arrested persons along with the seizures were handed over to Wangoi Police station for taking necessary legal action.
