Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling

Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.

A team of Assam Rifles was sent for patrolling near Kwatha Junction and the troops spotted suspicious Packages in the thick foliage of the jungle. On thorough search, contraband items worth Rs 55 lakhs were recovered from these packages, the Assam Rifles said on Thursday.

The recovered items have been handed over to Customs Preventive Force for further investigation, it added.
