Manipur House passes Rs 4,734. 93 crore demands for grants

Imphal: A total of Rs 47,34,93,21,000 was passed as demands for grants 2023-24 for eight different demands in the ongoing budget session of 3rd session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
The eight demands were moved on the Assembly floor by chief minister N. Biren Singh who is also finance in-charge.
The amount for voting on demands for grants for state legislature is Rs 252,20,86,000; council of ministers is Rs 15,27,88,000; secretariat is Rs 180,49,77,000; transport is Rs 62,34,74,000; education is Rs 3291,78,35,000; co-operation is Rs 41,72,37,000; sericulture is Rs 51,25,69,000 and water resources department is Rs 839,83,55,000.
Among the different demands, four opposition MLAs including K. Ranjit Singh raised motion for disapproval of policy cut on four different demands in Transport, Education, Sericulture and Water Resources departments.
After deliberate discussion on the policy cut motion with the concerned ministers, the House unanimously passed the total amount of Rs 47,34,93,21,000 as demands for grants 2023-24.
The chief minister, who is also finance in-charge, tabled and moved ‘the Manipur Appropriation (No. 1) Bill, 2023’ for consideration.
